Copal is a tree resin used by the cultures of pre-Columbian Mesoamerica as a ceremonial incense. It produces a light, citrus and piney scent that has been used for spiritual cleansing. Copal was used at ancient Maya and Aztec ceremonies to be used as a ritual offering to the Gods.
